Yoga mama {The ordinary moments} #22
Okay so usually my Ordinary Moments posts are all about Arthur. This week I’m switching things up a little because this one is about me!
We’ve been back in the Seychelles for just over a month now, since being back I’ve really got into my Yoga again. I’m becoming a Yoga mama!!
I used to go to a class when we first moved here that was done at the school, but had to stop after being put pretty much on bed rest at 7 weeks pregnant.
Later into my pregnancy, when all was safe and well, I downloaded a pregnancy yoga DVD and did it every day. Despite it being pretty dated, the woman on there being totally crazy, some rather weird chant-y stuff and way too much soft focus, I found that I actually quite enjoyed it. It was nice to have some pregnancy safe exercise.
I’ve been having some issues with my back and hip and saw a physio when we were in the UK this summer. I Decided that as well as doing cardio I needed to make sure I was looking after my back, and well, my body as a whole. I found a yoga app and the reason I downloaded it was because some of the videos on there were specifically designed for runners. (It’s called Yoga Studio if anyone’s interested).
So anyway, on to my ordinary moment……
Arthur has his nap around 11 and sleeps for a couple of hours. It’s at this time I roll out my yoga mat.
I do a video from between 20 mins and an hour long depending on what else I’ve got to do. There are lots of different ones (not just for running) and I’ve been loving it. I try to do a harder one during the day, like a strength building one, and I feel so good afterwards.
In the evenings I also quite often do a shorter one that’s focused on relaxation, which is always nice after a busy day.
Im kinda loving becoming a Yoga mama, I’m feeling stronger and after I do a video I always feel really good for it and more relaxed (always useful when spending the day with a wild 15 month old!). I feel like I have more energy too (again useful!!!).
So that’s my ordinary moment for this week, a little bit of me time for this Seychelles mama, aka yoga mama!!
As it wouldn’t quite be an ordinary moments post without Arthur in there somewhere here is my little yoga baby doing his “downward dog” pose!!

Great picture of Arthur getting involved. And fab that you are finding something that can fit into your routine, I always find that’s the hardest thing with exercise. Being able to fit it in!
She does look a bit of a crazy yoga lady in the video! xx

I love yoga, I did some when I was pregnant with my little boy, helps wonders but I agree – It is about finding enough time (especially in my house lol) but I am doing a post-natal fitness dvd at the moment to help fix my recti divarication (muscle separation in my tummy)… motivation is hard when i’m tired after a long day but must stick at it!! great post x

Oohh I really want to get back into yoga, it really chills me out a lot so want to get it back into my routine. I shall have to look at that app. I adore that pic of Arthur xx

Good for you for finding time to do something so positive and healthy for yourself. I absolutely love that photo of Arthur joining in. So cute. Definitely one for his 18th birthday! lol Or first girlfriend share. lol Lovely post. #ordinarymoments

Aww Arthur is very cute. Must be lovely to get some ‘me’ time. Can honestly say I’ve never made it to look at your blog before (shocking) you always post such lovely comments. Thinks it’s because I was worried about being extremely jealous of your surroundings 🙂
Yoga for you is like running for me. I have tried to do yoga in the past but I find it boring. I’m not great at relaxing! x

I’m starting a yoga class this week and am excited to try it. I’ve done a lot of Pilates in the past, and really did feel that it helped tone me up, but also strengthen my body too. I’m not a great fan of all the sweaty, cardio exercise, these sorts of calmer classes suit me much better! 🙂 xxx ps. How adorable is Arthur?? The little tan!! 🙂 xxx
It’s so so important to take a little time out for yourself and your health! I have noticed a huge difference in my own health and well being after taking up Pilates! Keep it going yoga mumma!

It’s great to take a bit of time out for yourself. I am keen to tone up and hadn’t considered yoga. It sounds very relaxing and something I’ll look into for myself. Arthur is just too cute!

Haha so cute, he has definitely got technique there! Bless little Arthur. I have never tried Yoga or Pilates or anything like that, but I think I would really enjoy it. I bet it is a lovely way of staying fit but also relaxing too. x

Yoga, that is great! I used to do yoga a fair bit in the past. I really liked Yogamazing podcasts – not sure if they still do them but worth checking them out if you can find them. Now I do yoga once a week, during my lunch hour, but should do more. You can definitely tell the difference in yourself if you do it daily!

I really need to take a leaf out of your book! I think yoga is a great exercise and would love to take it up again now I’m not pregnant. I love his downward dog pose!

I loved yoga when I was pregnant with Elma and I always meant to get into it properly after she arrived but I’m horribly inflexible! I love the picture of Arthur, babies are so supple they can pull the most amazing poses can’t they!

Good luck with your yoga. I used to do it years ago and as a teenager yoga used to be on television . Shame it’s not on now !

I’ve never heard if yoga mama before but it looks like a really good idea and glad it’s helping a bit. Arthur looks really cute in that pose. I wish I could do the downward dog 🙂 I can’t touch my toes!
That lady in the video does look full on CRAZY! I love it! Good for you for finding a little me time and for concentrating on putting yourself first. I have just started dabbling in yoga and I really like it, I’ve always done Pilates which is not relaxing at all, and I also think I’m at a point where slowing down is a necessity.

Good for you. You actually make it sound so easy to fit in the time. I have to admit I keep trying but end up giving up (me time in general) but never tried Yoga.

Fab pic of Arthur! M did this very pose for the first time just at the weekend 🙂
He didn’t learn it from me though, unfortunately – I used to be super into yoga but life just completely gets in the way now… I admire you for being so determined and motivated, I really must take a leaf out of your book and get back into as well. My back would certainly thank me for it too, with M being the heavy lump that he is!!! xx

What a cutie!! I could never get in to yoga, I like the cardio and jumping around like a loon for 30 mins to much. It definitely appeals for the strength part though.

Ahh, I love Arthur’s yoga pose! (I have a wild 1 year old too!) I did yoga in pregnancy also, I really loved it, despite often nodding off at the end of each class – soo relaxing! I wish I had kept it up but a new baby made me drop pretty much everything else! You go, yoga mama!

I’ve not done yoga since I was a kid, when I was a lot more flexible! Now, it’s probably something I should try, as what I really need is to strengthen my core, don’t we all?! Love that you’re getting some time to yourself. My little girl stopped napping over the summer *sobs*! #TheOrdinaryMoments
