Arthur and Freddie March 2017

Arthur and Freddie March 2017

It has been far too long since I’ve written a post about Arthur and Freddie.

I have no idea why I stopped doing their monthly updates because I absolutely loved it.  At the start of the year I promised myself that I would start writing them again.  Its now March and I haven’t done so.

However, I’m changing that today!  So here is a little post about Arthur and Freddie, as they are, right now!!

Arthur, aged 3years and 8months

Arthur: March 2017

This boy, is unbelievable right now.  I can not explain how proud I am of Arthur at the moment.  The thing that makes me most proud of Arthur right now has to be his manners.  He ALWAYS remembers his please and thank you’s and I love that.

He is always so happy to help whenever he can, and even when he can’t he’s right there wanting to!  He’s definitely is ready to start getting involved with some projects at home

We are working on building up his attention span because it can be pretty short.  We are getting some great support from school with this.

Arthur’s speech has come on immeasurably since he started school, every day he surprises me with something new.  I’m not exaggerating when I say that there has been real progress on a weekly basis.  His teacher and all our friends and family have noticed it and it is a big relief.  Its been something I have chosen not to speak about on here but it has been a big worry for us all.  There is still progress to be made but we are all delighted with the progress he has made so far!!

Arthur is building some lovely friendships at the moment and its so nice to see.  There are a couple of kids in his class who he is particularly fond of and he is so happy to see them every morning.  He is also so lucky to have the friendships of all mine and Mark’s friends too, they love him and look out for him so much.  Our ‘expat family’ is something I am eternally grateful for being so far away from our own!

A huge thing for Arthur in this last month is that he has all of a sudden turned into a full on fish!  He has ALWAYS loved the water but now, not only is he going underwater, he is actually starting to swim too! All by himself, he decided he was ready!

Freddie aged 19 months

Freddie: March 2017

Where to start with Freddie!!!  He is honestly hilarious. I can’t believe how much he genuinely cracks me up on a daily basis.

At 19 months he is pretty sure he can do everything his brother can and theres not a lot thats going to stop him!  He is fearless, and oh so determined.  Freddie’s so happy every day when we get Arthur from school, although dragging him away when we drop him off in the morning is becoming a challenge – he loves going into class with ‘the big kids’.

This month Freddie was sick for almost a week.  He had a horrible fever, that seemed to spike in the afternoon. Also, he was eating very little the whole time.  I think I worried about this more than normal as when he had his 18month injection he hadn’t really gained any weight.  Now, rational me knows that they go through phases of this.  But, panic-y worrying about being judged by everyone me went into a bit of a meltdown over this!  He is eating again now, although he is becoming really picky which is SO annoying!!

We can’t get over how stroppy he can be.  I know time puts rose tinted glasses on things but I am sure he throws bigger, and much longer tantrums then Arthur did at this age.  Another sign of just how strong willed Freddie is.

My favourite thing about Freddie right now is how, when he’s tired, he comes and lies down over his legs or plops himself onto the bed or any soft object around.  Then he wants me to tickle his back.  Its so cute, he goes all super cuddly and lovely!

Freddie is starting to pick up quite a few words.  ‘No’ is a definite favourite.  He says Mummy a lot and also, ‘fish’ ‘shark’ and ‘whale’ in true island boy fashion!

Together

Arthur & Freddie March 2017

Together, Arthur and Freddie are becoming a real team.  They still love to be in each others company and mostly wants the other to be involved with whatever they are doing.  I’m starting to notice that if one is upset and having a cuddle with me, the other is all of a sudden upset and wants the same too.   Freddie is really copying things Arthur is doing, and saying too.

Arthur really looks out for Freddie.  The other day we had an interesting incident where Arthur pushed Freddie but it was because he was getting him away from the oven (not on) that he was trying to touch.  We were really happy that Arthur was protecting Freddie but had to at the same time tell him that he shouldn’t have pushed him!
