Arthur and Freddie April 2017

Arthur and Freddie April 2017

Its been a month, well yes it has been over a month.  But I thought I’d check back in with an update on the boys.  Last month’s update is here if you want a read

Its been a crazy month, Mark has been super busy in school, both of the boys were poorly for a couple of weeks.  We are definitely all very happy the Easter holidays have just started here nd can catch up on some much needed down time.

Arthur, aged 3 years and 9 months

Being poorly came at a bad time as his class had just started practicing for their school show. By the time he got back into school he just wasn’t up for it at all.  His class were going to be doing magic tricks and Arthur loved his little trick of making a ball disappear. He just was not cool with the idea of getting up on the stage, or being part of a larger production.  He even stopped wanting to go into school at all.

The day of the show came and Arthur had said he wanted to do it, I took him down for it and he got really scared and upset and didn’t even want to watch the show.  I felt so sad for him that evening.  It was a really tough parenting experience trying to figure out the boundaries of how far you should be encouraging and pushing them out of their comfort zone.

The next day in school he was happy as could be and they started preparing for his sports day.

I couldn’t believe that he was going to join in but he had an absolutely fantastic time – he did all the races and he really enjoyed it.  He was super proud of his medal at the end too.

Arthur has also started to swim out of his depth!  We are so proud of the confidence he’s showing in the water!  He loves swimming, and its amazing that he’s now taken the step to go into the deep too!!  Of course, this does mean we are on extra alert watching him now but its a huge achievement!!

He has developed some serious sass in this last month, we are getting plenty of ‘I don’t like you’ and ‘This is Rubbish’. All in all though he’s still bloody cute most of the time – and still never forgets a please and a thank you!

Freddie aged 21 months

Freddie was poorly at the same time as Arthur. I was starting to worry because he really wasn’t eating much at all.  Luckily, he has bounced back and is eating pretty well again.  He does have a serious sweet tooth though.

It didn’t take him long for the little bit of shyness to break down with my Mum and Dad. He is just as besotted with them as Arthur is.  They couldn’t believe how strong a character he is.  Most of our Skype calls are taken up with Arthur, so it was really nice for them to get a chance to have some time with Freddie while Arthur was at school.  He certainly holds his own when they are together too!

Freddie has lots of words now, most of which are related to the Ocean! Fish, Whale, Shark, tocto (Octopus), Boat are all favourites.  He also has started to say Bye to things, mostly “bye fish” and “bye tree”

He loves ‘shooing’ birds, pointing out geckos, bugs, birds, cats, dogs and anything else he can find!  He’d spend all day every day outside if he could.  A true island boy!

Freddie is pretty sassy too.  He knows when he’s doing something he shouldn’t and gives a huge grin after!  I think we are in for some trouble with him as he gets older!

Together

When the boys were sick I thought I would have a total nightmare with both of them at home.  I was really lucky that despite being poorly, they continued to be great together.

Then when my parents arrived I was certain that Arthur would be really possessive of them and not give Freddie a look in.  He yet again pleasantly surprised me.Arthur and Freddie April 2017

Freddie thinks Arthur is the best and wants to be doing everything his big brother is doing.  Arthur is still more than happy with having Freddie join in on his games too which makes me so happy!!

I took this picture after Arthur’s sports day.  There is lots about it that isn’t ‘picture perfect’.  Arthur is still in his sports kit, Freddie doesn’t have shorts on, and of course neither are looking at the camera.  But, I still love it!!!

We have one more week of Easter holidays together.  After that, its back to school for Arthur and work for Mark.  I’m enjoying every second of us being all together before the madness of school starts up again!

I’ll be back next month with another update!
