18 months old

Arthur is 18 months old!

I’m kinda late with this but Arthur is now 18 months old!!

Our little guy is becoming quite the chatterbox!! He is constantly babbling!! His latest word developed while we were on holiday…. “See” as we were in lots of new places he was doing lots of exploring, he wanted to show mark and I everything, whenever he shows us anything now he says “see” (usually multiple times until we see it!)
He’s also very excited whenever we all eat the same thing and says “sa sa” for “same”

This month we have been away in Sri Lanka. Arthur absolutely loved it! He was so well behaved the whole time, we were so proud of him!!
He absolutely loved riding in Tuk Tuk’s and seeing wild monkeys and elephants (more of that in a blog post soon!!!).
It was also really nice to see his relationship with Mark strengthen as they got to spend lots of time together! Also mark did a lot of the carrying of Arthur in the Moby wrap which helped too. I know that Arthur will really start to miss Mark lots when he goes back to work!

While we were away he received a lot of attention from absolutely everyone. I guess being a little blonde boy he’s kind of unusual there and lots of people wanted to come touch him and generally just be around him. He coped with the attention pretty well but we saw a side to him that we had never seen before, shyness! We have never considered Arthur to be shy but he really was. It was really strange! He never got upset or anything but would often just bury his head into our legs or want to be picked up! He’d often still give a cheeky smile though once he was feeling safe next to me or Mark!

Considering we had Arthur in the same room as us the whole trip, his sleep continued mostly as normal, we had a couple early wake ups but in general he was good as gold!

Food is still a challenge some times, but just when I start to worry that he is not eating well enough, or just not enough in general he will start eating loads again….I guess he just goes through little phases. I really do need to stop worrying about it, but I’m not sure I ever will!

Arthur and I had been going into school once a week for an hour or two before the Christmas break and he was really loving it (despite one little girl pinching him on two separate occasions!!!) and I’m looking forward to taking him in again once Christmas break finishes again as it’s so lovely to see him playing with other kids! I love that despite them being twice his age, he doesn’t let them boss him around and is very much his own person!!

This next month will seem quite crazy with Mark going back at work, and getting back to ‘normal’ life again after such an amazing trip! Arthur has always thrived on routine though so it will be good for him! As always we look forward to the wonderful ways he continues to develop and surprise us!

    • Awww I don’t know why but I didn’t realise they were so close to Arthur in age! It really is flying by, so scary!! Xx

  • It’s going so fast, he is gorgeous and how long has his hair gone. 18 months to about 2.5 is my favourite age so far with Mads, although obviously every age is amazing. I wish I could keep LL 22 months forever! πŸ˜‰ Happy New Year to you and your gorgeous little family. xx

  • Awesome news! Glad the trip went well, it sounds like a trip of a lifetime =). I don’t know if it’s the longer hair, or the fact he is wearing lots of clothes, but he looks so grown up in that photo, much older then when I last saw him back in October.

Look forward to catching up soon.

    Also, love the shirt ;).

    • Thanks Oli! He definitely does seem to have grown up lots, but if think his big boy clothes definitely attributed to it!
It really was an amazing trip you should try to go next time you come to visit, it’s actually the cheapest way to get here now!!

    • Ahh thanks Donna, he really has all of a sudden become a little boy it’s amazing how it has all of a sudden appeared to have happened!!! Xx

  • Wow, I never realised our little ones are so close in age! My daughter is going to be 19 months in a few days, and she does lots of similar things. The little shyness, the new words, getting all excited about any new things… It is such a lovely age πŸ™‚

I can imagine it was pretty special for Arthur to see elephants and other cool animals in Sri Lanka. Aili shrieks in delight if she even sees a cat, imagine what seeing an elephant does…

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip to Sri Lanka, and thanks for linking up with My Monthly Roundup πŸ™‚
